Nhl 09 is apparently available for pc download on the EA site but is not found on origin. How do I download it? Check out our April 3rd patch details here.Is there any reason the largest gaming community in the history of video games isn't getting access to any of EA's sports games apart from FIFA?
I thought EA was on a journey to 'regain the trust of the PC gaming audience'

This is a question many, many people want answered. It should be mentioned that the game coming to the PC market will only improve the product for the existing console base. More sales means more money for EA, and a bigger budget for next year's title.

- 352 postsMemberThis is a good question. It might have something to do with their inability to make a complete game on consoles. Asking for a PC version is simply too much to ask apparently.
- 754 postsMemberI see the game is not on PC for the Ninth. Straight. Year.

I think the short answer is that sports games are in a bit of a category unto themselves, and frankly - like it or not - NHL is a bit of a niche product.0 - 91 postsMemberIt probably has to do with the cost of supporting the PC as a platform not being worth it when you take into consideration the cost with porting it.
I'm a PC Gamer first, but it's harder to support than a Console because the hardware for a machine is an endless mix of possible builds. It requires a fairly large team to support on the PC.
I could see the game coming to the PC if it goes to a subscription service.0 - 37 postsMemberSales were not strong enough to continue development out of ea Montreal
- 65 postsMemberSales were not strong enough
That was *NINE YEARS AGO*. When was the viability of the game last examined (for the largest platform in the history of video games)?
I'd guess before the PC market overtook consoles in sales by a BILLION dollars per year. - 65 postsMemberIt probably has to do with the cost of supporting the PC as a platform not being worth it when you take into consideration the cost with porting it..
The TINY developer Psyonix has Rocket League across PC, Playstation, Xbox, Mac, Linux AND the Nintendo Switch, and EA's gonna cry poverty? Besides, these games are designed on PC architecture.
PC IS THE LARGEST, MOST PROFITABLE GAMING PLATFORM IN THE HISTORY OF VIDEO GAMES. - 37 postsMemberIt's irrelevant when the cost of development out spends the earnings from the 75k units sold

You're assuming there would be zero sales growth from *again* the largest video game platform in the history of video games.
- It's been nine years since the game was on PC, which means the market is primed for a release (some of the audience literally wasn't even born yet).
- There is absolutely no competition for the NHL series on the platform.
- PC 'out spends' console software by A BILLION DOLLARS per year.
I ask again- When was the last time this option was given serious consideration by the EA? - 90 postsMemberEA produced a poor PC port with NHL '09. I would seriously doubt they try again or if they do, it'll be just as a much garbage as before.1

There is zero evidence that there would be any significant increase in sales if they moved to PC as well.
While PC gaming is huge, the number of PC's that are equal in power to an Xbox1/PS4 is much smaller. Also, people are able to own both a PC and a console, so many PC owners who want to play hockey, may already have the game on a console.
Every year there is 2-3 people clamoring for a port to PC. That number needs to grow if they are to ever consider it. - 65 postsMemberAugust 17, 2017 4:31PMedited August 2017Every year there [are] 2-3 people clamoring for a port to PC. That number needs to grow if they are to ever consider it.
Are you kidding?
The only reason people aren't more vocal about wanting a port is because they've given up trying to reach the presumably blind and deaf EA developer teams. Are you aware of how long a period of time 9 years is to go completely ignored?
Oh, and here's an article for the THREE people who want hockey on PC-

There is not a big enough demand ... If there were the marketing departments of all these sporting game companies would be all over it ... but there not. - 65 postsMemberAugust 18, 2017 5:06AMedited August 2017There is not a big enough demand
When was the last time EA even asked its audience what it wanted?
What is the perceived lack of demand based on? This is the third time I've asked this same question in this thread alone, and it's one that I (as well as many others) have been asking for nearly a decade.
The PC crowd has simply stopped trying to pressure EA to bring its products to them because they've been met with cold indifference or straight up censorship.
By the way, those 132 comments on that single article outnumber the comments in this entire NHL 18 forum... so I'm not sure why you'd cite that as an argument against PC wanting the game, lol. - 113 postsMember0

2nd ... new forums... I had well over 25k posts here myself and another 30k on fifa on the old forums ... - 118 postsMemberEA looks at games from a global perspective. If it doesn't sell well around the globe they aren't putting it on pc. That is why Madden is not on pc anymore. Madden doesn't sell well outside of the United States.

Hockey has global appeal. EA would have zero competition across the entire platform. - 113 postsMemberThe funds are there shoes .. the studio that made it is gone and no one wants to lose money to game a game for a syatem with dropping sports sales all around
Yeah EA 'hid' the NHL kiosks at E3.
Download NHL 2009 Hockey pc game full version setup, direct link for windows. NHL 09 is as real of a hockey game as it can get. It looks great, sounds good if repetitive, plays great and has an amazing set of features.
About NHL 09
NHL 09 is hands-down the best sports game yet. NHL 09, which actually surprised me despite the fact that there was very many game modes. EA’s NHL 09 takes Lord Stanley’s Cup, thanks to a combination of what worked well last year and some sweet new features. NHL 09 builds on the momentum of last year, with innovative controls. NHL 09 features Be A Pro, a game mode that puts you on the ice with a dynamic new 3rd person camera that allows you to play the role of one player. NHL 09 delivers a solid lineup of improvements and much appreciated tweaks to the franchise.
Nhl 09 For Pc
NHL 09 with the most realistic, fun, and deep NHL game ever made. Very polished game that takes full advantage of its subject to create an intense, thrilling sports title. With its beautiful presentation, broadcast-like feel, smooth control scheme, and innovative new online functions. The graphics may be a bit dated for the time but the gameplay is fun and thats what counts! the controls are pretty good too. Game looks great, opponent AI is smart, good degree of control for team strategy, innovative player. For new players, this will be a breathe of fresh air and a fun game to explore.
Improving ten fold from the horrible first person fighting that plagued the previous NHL games, the third person fighting is extremely fun. I love the hitting system and the fighting as those are my favorite things to do in hockey video games. I still recommend this game for the competitivity. Overall, NHL 09 is the best hockey game there’s ever been and is a significant improvement over ’08.
